Moving to PARIS!

Yes. I am moving to Paris! I cannot believe I am actually typing that sentence. Ladies and Gentlemen, this has been a dream of mine for almost a decade and I have finally made it happen. There was no more exciting feeling than booking my one way plane ticket last week 🙂

HOW and WHY?!

AS you know, (if you have been following my posts) I had left my job in Los Angeles, and actually had been gearing up to be an entrepreneur. I never said exactly what that was going to look like, but I was actually in the process of buying a restaurant, a french bistro, bien sur! Long story short, things fell through on the deal and I was left with NO job and NO plan. What to do next?! I thought long and hard about this and I could have gone down many paths. I could have found another restaurant to buy, went and found another job, or …. possibly found a way to live my dream and move to Paris!

Build your own dreams or someone else will hire you to build theirs. ~Farrah Gray

So, I started brainstorming about what I would DO in Paris. I journaled about everything I love…food, wine, travel, pastries, bakeries…. and I started to think that maybe studying in Paris would be the ticket. I researched and researched and finally found a fit!

After a long interview process, and embarrassing Skype chats, I was finally accepted as one of 20 students to a top Sommelier Program! I will spend a year learning all there is to know about WINE – in Paris. Not too shabby 🙂 The course is taught in French with a british translator. The students come from all over the world…Spain, Australia, Asia, Argentina, Canada and America. I am beyond thrilled to embark on this once in a lifetime experience. I have always been fascinated with the world of wine and to actually make a career out of it would make life so sweet!

Everything else naturally fell into place.

~ I found a charming flat in the Latin Quartier (5th Arrondissment) to rent- and it’s affordable!

~ I met and connected with several people that actually live in Paris- so I will have a comfort and safety net of knowing other souls in my dream city.

~Tuition was paid and accepted.

~I started taking French Lessons…

~I received my VISA (very long and frustrating process)

And now I am pinching myself and filled with extreme gratitude that this is life. This is my REAL life 🙂

Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.

When I tell most people…the first question I get is “how did you make that happen?” All I can say is, it was a deep, deep, desire within me that I somehow believed would come to fruition one day. I did not know when or how…I just took the very next step. I have read 5 novels about women, American women, that have done exactly what I am doing. Left their job and up and moved to Paris. I am not the first.

As a friend said to me “Just take the leap and let the net catch you”

I will be documenting this journey on the blog and I am so excited to celebrate and share this adventure with the world!!

So much to come in the City of Lights!

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. ~Anais NIN
